Animated Om

Interactive Chakra Shockwave Animation

Because of the size of the file (831K), it might take a while (5 to 20 minutes depending on your connection) to complete the download. Please do not give up. It is really worth the wait. It is the only tool we know of that can teach so much about the Chakras according to the authentic Yoga tradition from India. It will give you for each Chakra: a good concise description; the proper colors of petals, mandalas, Mantras etc.; the female and male deity; the animal; the proper pronunciation for Chakra names and Mantras.
It shows the value of the net and the Web as educational tools.
Now please see below for things to do while your browser is downloading the animation.

This Chakra animation has been designed by Lisa Blackshear. If you need any design done for your home page you should definitely visit her homepage and/or send her e-mail at lisab@interport.net.

Things to do while waiting

  • If you environment allows it, lie down and take 20 to 30 deep abdominal breaths through the nose.
  • Also lying down, relax every part of your body from the feet to the head repeating 3 times in your mind auto suggestions (start by relaxing the feet consciously and repeat 3 times the formulae: I relax the feet. Do the same things for the ankles and going up all the way to the face, head and skull.
  • If you can't lie down, take 20 to 30 deep breaths in the sitting position. Try to sit on the edge of your chair with your back and head straight. Relax the shoulders and face and breathe.
  • Repeat the Om Mantra 108 times. You can count with a japa mala (rosary) or with your fingers. If counting is too hard for you at this point. Just repeat the Mantra for as long as it takes to download the Chakras. The repetition can be done out loud or silently if they are people around.
  • If you know how to pronounce them you can do the same thing with other Mantras such as Om Namah Sivaya or Om Namo Narayanaya.
  • If you can't leave your computer for 5 minutes ;-) and prefer theory to practice then you can browse the rest of the Sivananda Web site. This link will create a new window and let you surf the net while the Chakras are coming.
