Class Descriptions
Open* This is a standard class open to all. The class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), a regular series of asanas including sun salutations and relaxation. Students are advised to take a beginners' course before attending an open class. Not suitable for complete beginners. *6pm* As our 6pm classes are usually full, we ask the first-timers, regardless of their experience, to try one of our other open classes - which are generally smaller. This way we will be able, not only to accomodate you, but to provide you with a fuller experience.

Open
1 Hour

Although some postures may be omitted this one hour class provides a complete practice session with breathing exercises, asanas and relaxation.
Advanced In this class the postures are held for longer and some variations of the basic asanas are practices. We recommend taking the Yoga 2 (intermediate) and Yoga 3 (advanced) level courses as preparation.
Beginner For students who are new to Yoga this class provides an ideal introduction. The class lasts one hour and fifteen minutes. For further in-depth instruction we recommend the Yoga 1 Beginner course.
Gentle This class follows a gentle approach especially suitable for seniors and the physically challenged.
Prenatal Yoga can help you to have a better pregnancy and delivery. This class offers a gentle series of postures with adapted postures and brief meditation. *The prenatal drop-in class will most likely run as 4 week courses from now on (commitment to 4 classes / once per week). Please call to inquire. (212-255-4560).
Satsang Satsang is a group meditation followed by devotional chanting and an informal talk on the practical philosophy of Yoga and Vedanta. The length of the satsang is usually around 90 minutes. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before start. Kirtan (chanting) books are provided to help you follow and participate in the kirtan. The program is free and open to all. First time participants welcome.
